The Superfund Re-Visioning Project is an experimental artistic process that aims to transform contaminated industrial sites recognized by The United States Government as Superfund Sites. In New York State there are one hundred and seventeen Superfund Sites. This project focuses on transforming and energetically remediating those sites by redirecting potential energy toward alternate futures using combinations of creative actions including site specific performance and sound explorations, sculpture, writing, and visual art including drawing, painting, photography, and video.

NINA ISABELLE is a conceptual and process-based multidisciplinary artist. Isabelle creates situations that challenge perception, cognition, and language to inform and align impulse with intention and action. Her work moves toward new and beneficial individual and collective trajectories of belief, possibility, and understanding. She has been exhibiting and organizing physical and conceptual work for over twenty five years. EVAN PRITCHARD a descendant of the Micmac people (part of the Algonquin nations) is the founder of The Center for Algonquin Culture, and is a former Professor of Native American history at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Born in 1977, Alan Tod is the artistic name of Julien Isoré. Julien began painting at age 10 and was interested in biology and the history of art. At the age of 24, after a Master's Degree in Public Law and a post-degree in comparative intellectual property. Julien works for the National French media in entertainment as an artistic collaborator. At the age of 28, Julien Isoré opened his first painting studio in Paris and launched his first work of Total art: the international advertising campaign for love (LOVE: artforlove.fr). In 2007, he joined the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon (cieba) with his project: "Comparative LAB " in collaboration with the School of Medicine of Lisbon and the School of Sociology of the “Imaginaire”of the University of La Sorbonne.

He produces and organizes international exhibitions, collective performances, published articles and festivals on the theme of the collective imaginary and its relationship with art. He is particularly interested in the process of building new cultures and finding new spirit of art.

Since 2014, Julien Isoré is called Alan Tod, a forest-artist and has been proposing the FOREST ART (FOREST IS ART). Alan is collaborating with the biologist Fernando Souza (Bazel, Switzerland) and with the artist Marta de Menezes (Lisbon, PT) to develop bio-arte works and with Alex Romania to develop the Forest-Embassy performance since 2020. Alan prepares a PhD on forest-art involving culture and global warming with the University of Porto since 2019.

Alex Romania makes multidisciplinary work at the crux of expansive task and deteriorating form, investigating bodies of cultural debris amidst the invisible everyday and toxic ingestions, consuming, purging, and breaking apart. Romania’s work delves into spaces of the unimaginable, staring into the unknown to consider a crude and splendid humanity, embracing the unruly to liberate the governed body.

Based in NYC, Romania has presented work and taught internationally at venues such as Sub Rosa (Athens, Greece), Abrons Arts Center (NYC), Brooklyn Studios for Dance (NYC), Huerto Roma Verde (DF, Mexico), Human Resources (Los Angeles), Encuentro (Lima, Peru), UV Estudios (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the Pillsbury House (Minneapolis), and el Museo del Arte Contemporáneo (Lima, Peru). As a performer, Romania has worked with artists such as Kathy Westwater, Catherine Galasso, Andy de Groat, Eddie Peake, Simone Forti, Michele Beck, and has designed video and objects for multiple works by Antonio Ramos at venues such as High Line Arts and the Chocolate Factory Theater. Romania is a 2018-2020 Movement Research Artist in Resident. Romania looks forward to presenting a trilogy of works in 2023 which will include two recently premiered works ‘KLUTZ’ and ‘‘junkhead’, in addition to a newly commissioned work.

STACY LYNN SMITH [BROOKLYN, NY] RECKONING

Stacy Lynn Smith is a neurodivergent, biracial/Black dancer/performance artist with specialization in butoh, contemporary dance and experimental theater, creating work through a unique lens of “other”. Smith enjoys collaborating as performer/improviser, director and choreographer across disciplines and genres with an array of talented artists including: rhythmanalyst, DeForrest Brown Jr., vocal/performance artist, Anna Homler, choreographer/founder of New Dance Alliance, Karen Bernard, experimental theater company, Saints of an Unnamed Country, surfer/fashion designer, Thaddeus O’Neil and director/filmmaker, Josephine Decker. Member of artist/activist cohort, Body Politic.

Smith recently collaborated on “Revision Suite”, a site-specific meditation on architectural violence, worship and spiritual labor in response to the hidden “Slave Galleries” of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church and developed first iterations of solo series, “Crybaby”, which processes and maps personal experiences within the “cages” of mental illness, trauma, grief, abuse and the identity of invisibility, marginalization and “otherness” within the safety of assorted totems of the dead.

Most recently in collaborative process with Jasmine Hearn, Donna Costello, Alex Romania, Rakia Seaborn, Jill Sigman/thinkdance and Kathy Westwater. The WAAS is a women’s art collective based in Stroud, Gloucestershire but with an international remit. WAAS exists in order to activate women’s art. This includes activating the art of its members and also to create models and systems that can be used by others to activate their own or other women’s art. We work as a duo, Sharon Bennett and Sarah Dixon. We have been creating live art, participatory and socially engaged works together since 2018.

Sharon Bennett is a socially engaged artist and collaborator. Working with communities, artists or family and friends, her work blurs the boundaries between traditional positions of artist, artwork and audience. Bennett’s practice opens up a space where participants can meet, play, and be generous or share in generosity. In 2018 and 2019 Bennett was Artist in Residence at Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth. She has been interviewed by AN for their Artist Resource series and she is a recipient of their 2020 artist bursary award.

Bennett is co-founder of The Women’s Art Activation System with Sarah Dixon; of Croshare with Tom Jeram-West; and of Bennett and McDermott with Dan McDermott.

Sarah Dixon is a socially-engaged artist using a wide range of platforms and media to create participatory works. A founding member of the WAAS, her work explores how rituals and customs affect us and how we can update and modify them to give different experiences in the world. Her work has been shown at the ICA, Oblong Gallery and on a cyberbus in Moscow. Residencies include Gloucester Library (2017) and Artist in Residence in Motherhood in 2016. Dixon is a recipient of an a-n mentoring award, and has been shortlisted for a-n and Jerwood Bursaries.
