THE MISSION
The People’s Own Organic Power (POOP) Project uses art, theater, and education to promote critical conversations about sustainable sanitation for the person, planet, and world community.

Founded by Shawn Shafner ("The Puru") in 2010, The POOP Project is dedicated to creating work that:

heals the cultural shame making “potty talk” tabootransforms waste-making consumers into resource-conscious creators reconnects audiences to their bodies, communities, and the environment that we all share

WHY TALK ABOUT POOP?
For our bodies. Rather than accepting a culture that makes us feel guilty for doing something everybody does, we could create a world that is hospitable to the reality of having a body and all of its needs.

For our environment. Our culture encourages us to measure our worth solely by what we consume. Meanwhile, the “waste” we’re flushing into our drinking water could be fertilizing fields and fueling our cities.

For our global community. 40% of the world’s population – 2.5 billion people – still live without access to safe toilets. The resulting diarrhea alone kills more children each year than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and measles combined. But this silent crisis presents great opportunities to implement solutions that promote health and prosperity worldwide.

​It is Molly's mission to actively support and contribute to art, music, and world peace. She values creativity, collaboration, and community, and wholeheartedly believes in using music and sound as a catalyst forself-expression, social commentary, and transformation. She holds Bachelor of Music degrees from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford in Vocal Performance and Music Management, and currently works in Corporate Sponsorship with the New York Philharmonic.

Thomas Albrecht's performance art projects explore ritual and language in public spaces, galleries, and museums, prodding cultural beliefs and individual doubts. He has performed and exhibited work throughout the United States and internationally.

He has lectured on topics ranging from teaching pedagogy, ritual and performance, and contemporary visual practices. He served as the Menil Scholar at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, was selected as a Faculty Fellow for the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, and was the 2017-18 Georgette and Richard Koopman Distinguished Chair in the Visual Arts at the Hartford Art School.

He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, a Master of Arts in Religion from Yale University, and his MFA from the University of Washington. He serves as Assistant Dean in the School of Fine and Performing Arts, and an Associate Professor in the Art Department, at the State University of New York at New Paltz.

Artist's statement The artist's perspective on society is existential. He went through 518 Gwangju pro-democracy movement (many people died by their own soldiers) and 1980 military coup. So his school days were under the military dictatorship. Naturally he had been thinking about personal freedom and democracy. After then, he started to read about Taoism, Buddhism, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and history. His first priority was philosophy but he entered art department and began painting and performance.

His sight is multiple and dialectical. And he recognizes each value in life itself. He take himself as an balanced principal agent moving around the society. Therefore his role is to creat humanistic discourses by broaden artistic expressions. Performance art is good way to do so. Because there are various way to do it - exhibition, presentation, festival, planning, achive, writing - and make things more plexible in this 'solid' physical world by stopping solidifying thinking. He is keep asking about humanity, human of artistic flexibility, naturality and civilization. His art method of communication is fun and creating space of think

Cai Qing (Qing Sonnenberg) has been living and working as an independent artist in Europe and New York since 1989.
In September 2007 he relocated to Singapore. As a contemporary artist, he uses performance, installation, video and pictures to express his ideas. The concept in most of his art is the “observer” and “observed”, focusing on people of various backgrounds in different societies. He enjoys the interaction with different people and his works find inspiration in many of their life stories.
Cai Qing has also curated several important art shows. In 1998 he has co-curated China’s first contemporary art exhibition in a private space, “Trace of Existence”, and recently, in 2008, he curated “Construction before Destruction”, the last performance show in Sifo Art Village, Henan province, before its modernization by local officials.
