FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 We started our fall season with The Silver Spiders, an international group of exalted women performance artists all over the age of 65 years, from Mexico, Finland, Canada, Costa Rica and the United States. They confronted and examined their perspectives of knowledge and fantasies - to the goal of obtaining collective intercommunications, culminating in the group performance, presented to the public, at Grace Exhibition Space. www.grace-exhibition-space.com/performance.php?event_id=626

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 A night we were honored to present three of Sol’Savant-garde Call Jah Sol=Jah with Damali Abrams the Glitter Priestess, King Lucky & Dino Blanche, curated by esteemed artist and Yale graduate S’ol Sax. Avant-garde means frontline, as in the frontline of a war. It was the veterans and survivors of World War 1 that coined the term. They never wanted to return to the violence of international warfare. They focused on culture, ideas and beliefs as the generators of organized violence. Many of the original avant-garde artists rejected European Supremacy and its sexism. They sought to undermine their own culture by embracing the aesthetics ideas and cultural practices of the other cultures of the world. By embracing and being inspired by cultures that were derided as primitive these artists found weapons to confront and free themselves of the norms of violence inducing European Supremacist beliefs. Unfortunately, more than a century later the culture war still rages on. Our President and the ideology broadcast on Fox News are still deeply entrenched in European supremacist beliefs. The type of beliefs the original Avant-garde artists fought using culture instead of violence. FRIDAY OCTOBER 11 Two weeks ago, we showcased Chun Hua Catherine Dong and Nooshin Rostami in REUNION: Chun Hua and Nooshin met at Grace Exhibition Space in 2015, where Chun Hua was doing a performance called “Art must be Expensive. Shame Shame Shame!” At the end of the performance Chun Hua auctioned her belongings then auctioned herself, when Nooshin bought her for $70. What happened between Chun Hua and Nooshin after the auction? The story continued . . . four years later, Chun Hua and Nooshin reunited at Grace Exhibition Space. With their performative gestures and actions, they revealed not only their secrets, but also their life stories: their difficult transitions, their struggles, and their determinations of being who they are.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 We are proud to present millennial performance artist Nicola Fornoni. Grace Exhibition Space met Mr. Fornoni at the Venice International Performance Art Week in 2016. Fornoni’s performances talk about the body's themes, relevant to the artist's life and social issues. He challenges himself, using performance art as a natural remedy and source of freedom. Nicola uses performances and video art as languages, that communicate the expression of his actions. His intent is to change society, changing peoples’ minds, and showing the force of the body without remorse. Dancing on nature is a collective performance that wants to involve the public in a common action: dancing. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8 Viviana Druga is a Romanian ritualista who uses performance, photography and installation-based work as her main forms of expression. She was born in Transylvania, Romania. Until the age of 12 she would visit together with her sister the grandparents living near the Carpathian Mountains. Her childhood was influenced by the free life of the mountain area and the Christian – orthodox Mysticism brought in by her mother. Before she left Romania in 2008 she was predominantly interested in the social side of art, performing activist art actions in Bucharest such as infiltrating the international biennial, photographing herself with the president on the street while being dressed like a guerrilla, and convincing people to pose in their swimsuits in winter at a busy intersection where an off-limits park had been constructed. Since she moved to Berlin, she has been investigating the personal, poetic side of performing, the new dimensions of reality and capturing that reality through photography – using art as a magical activity that can help the subject / audience discover new dimensions of oneself. www.grace-exhibition-space.com/performance.php?event_id=630

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22 We end our fall season with the Non Grata Group of international artists in a ritualistic cataclysm of societal exorcism. Around the name NON GRATA there have been different hushes and shushes for a long time. Already from the point of view of death of conventionalization of art it has embodied the horrible and unwanted disembodiment of human person, from which the meaninglessness of nowadays art, is pouring out. The main point of the group is ethical - it is the image of primitivism, impersonality and experimental creativity. The performances of the group take place according to the logic of avoiding codes. The presentations are physical texts, whose ways of orthography and reading are kept within limits of real actions by the group members. Aesthetical and provocative challenges are represented in places, where the Art World doesn't work. Here are some materials about Non Grata Performance group. We travel constantly all over the world - Asia-America-Europe - with our performances and festivals, we manifest creative freedom and Storm Generation and physically linking worldwide creative network. We are running workshops about collective synergy, performances, all over the World through our and Alternative Academia Non Grata on the wheels.
