Francesco Kiàis (Italy - Greece) is an artist, an independent art writer and
curator. He created and co-founded a platform based in Athens and dedicated
to performance art, the [mind the] G.A.P. - Gathering Around Performance.
Last years he contributed, both as a theoretician and as an artist, to different
educational and curatorial projects, among which the VENICE
INTERNATIONAL PERFOMANCE ART WEEK. In 2017 he held a series of
lectures on Performance Art at the Ionian University, Corfu, Department of
Audio and Visual Arts, as an external collaborator. His last workshop took place
at the Athens Fine Arts under the title "Body and Citizenship", aimed at a series
of actions in the public space.

In his work Kiais moves in the territory that unites and separates people,
cultures, traditions, be it a physical or mental border, an ideological contrast or a
prejudice. His language gathers the heritage of a visual culture traditionally
compromised by the relationship with power, freeing it in a shared creative
process. Its use of tradition is opposed to the process of cultural annihilation
imposed on local identities by the process of globalization that is currently
taking place

My interests, and the directives that have driven my own art
practice, involve black feminist discourse, questions of history,
reality and truth as they relate to science and the unknown,
and the purpose of the soul/spirit in art.

The artist-musician performs mesmerizing world textures and driving melodic grooves with passion and purpose on an amazing arsenal of amplified hybrid string instruments made from household objects and tools. kara lynch is a time-based artist living in the bronx, ny - born in the momentous year of 1968. kara completed her MFA in Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego and has been a research fellow in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department, University of Texas, Austin and the Academy for Advanced African Studies at Bayreuth University in Germany. She earns a living as an Associate Professor of Video and Critical Studies at Hampshire College. Ambivalent towards hyper-visual culture, she is curious about duration, embodiment, and aural experience ; and through low-fi, collective practice and social intervention lynch explores aesthetic/political relationships between time + space. Her work is vigilantly raced, classed, and gendered - Black, queer and feminist.

Major projects include: 'Black Russians' - a feature documentary video, ‘The Outing’ - a video travelogue, ‘Mouhawala Oula’ - a gender-bending trio performance for oriental dance, live video, and saxophone, and the current project 'INVISIBLE’, an episodic, speculative, multi-site video/audio installation - excavates the terror and resilient beauty of Black experience.

Working within the absence of knowledge of things that ought to be known - ancestry, cultural lineage, indigenous history - I sit in emptiness, listen for the ancestors, accept disconnection, speak to saffron, unearth lineage, mix and re-mix, stew in the body, feel the hollowness, move to unfamiliar rhythms, search for belonging, and make room to remember the forgotten.

Raha is an Iranian-born, Canadian-raised, US-based artist, and first-generation immigrant. She has studied and performed in the San Francisco Bay Area with Abby Crain, Kathleen Hermesdorf and Sara Shelton Mann, and in the DC area with Pearson/Widrig Dance Company, and DEVIATED THEATRE. She is currently concerned with systems and practices for collective healing, and engaged in liberation work through community-based counseling. She holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning and Bachelor’s degrees in Dance and Anthropology.
