ALICE VOGLER and VELA PHELAN are both time based artists living in Boston, and are married to each other. They have contrasting and opposite styles and rarely make work together, but will on this very special evening at Grace Space. They will each be creating immersive installations that will blend in and out of each other through out the night.
ALICE VOGLER [BOSTON, MA]
Alice Vogler (b. 1975) is a performance artist that lives, teaches and curates in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Some ongoing themes in her work include: choice, control, interaction, anticipation, time, healing, health, offerings, private, public, containment, remembering, preserving, expansion, contraction, construction, deconstruction and the color white.
VELA PHELAN [BOSTON, MA]
Title of my piece: BERRACO SANTO MANTO
Vela Phelan was born in the Dominican Republic and was raised in Mexico, USA , and Venezuela. He enjoys transforming & altering modern and ancient energy’s into a new unknown universal existence. Vela's self embodies many methods, he is always shape shifting and adapting to his instinct and the unknown. From time based actions to VJing, photography, curating and assemblages, he has been activating and creating since 1994, both nationally, internationally and in the World Wide Web.
Vela believes in magnifying the energy of objects, sounds, video, smells and actions while blending subconscious with spirit and allowing the unknown to present itself. . He is a practitioner of collaboration, surreal instincts and data ritualism.

We offer an opportunity to experience visceral and challenging works by the current generation of international performance artists whether emerging, mid-career or established. Our events are presented on the floor, not on a stage, dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer. This is how performance art is meant to be experienced and our mission is the glorification of performance art.
Grace Exhibition Space presents over 30 curated live performance art exhibitions each year, showcasing new work by more than 400 performance artists from across the United States and the world since 2006.
