QMAD, Queens Media Arts Development, under the direction of artist, Hector Canonge, is pleased to present ITINERANT, the annual contemporary performance art festival initiated in Queens in 2011. This year’s festival will constitute a citywide program to be presented in collaboration with galleries, artist-run spaces and public institutions in the five boroughs that make up the City of New York.
ITINERANT 2012 focuses on live performative works that treat notions of intimacy, self-reflection, and introspection. Artists working in contemporary performance art were selected to participate from an open call that attracted more than 175 local, national and international submissions. Forty five artists will be presenting new and existing works that explore the program’s theme over a period of 5 weeks starting at the end of March.
ITINERANT in Brooklyn is presented at Grace Exhibition Space featuring the works of local, national, and international artists.

Opened in 2006, Grace Exhibition Space is devoted exclusively to Performance Art. We offer an opportunity to experience visceral and challenging works by the current generation of international performance artists whether emerging, mid-career or established. Our events are presented on the floor, not on a stage, dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer. This is how performance art is meant to be experienced and our mission is the glorification of performance art.
Grace Exhibition Space presents over 30 curated live performance art exhibitions each year, showcasing new work by more than 400 performance artists from across the United States and the world since 2006.
